Construction Programmes and Quality

On Wednesday 9th December 2015 there was a Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) Infrastructure Quality Forum organised by RMS Construction Quality Manager Peter Bishton. The day included some great presentations by RMS representatives as well as by members of the wider roads community.
Our own Rob MacDonald gave a presentation on Construction Programming introducing the harmonogram, later known as the Gantt Chart. He explained how attention to programming at the development stage led to better management of utilities, smoother property acquisition as well as more consistent and accurate budgets. Additionally how good construction programming in the delivery phase leads to less delays, reduced variation claims and better team spirit. The talk was well received with a spirited question and answer session afterwards.
